Chicago Botanic Garden Bonsai Courtyards

Glencoe, IL

Design of two open air courtyards in the Regenstein Education Center for display of the world class Nakamura bonsai exhibit. A geometric pattern of granite and groundcover creates a ground plane with black granite reflecting pools in each corner. Custom designed benches with translucent, lighted glass panels display the bonsai collection. adding interesting interplay of light and shadow at various times of day and under differing weather conditions.
