Private Residence

Stowe, Vermont

A private residence and farmstead, blending modernist design with the native Vermont agricultural landscape situated on a rise overlooking Mount Mansfield. A long drive ascending to the main house is lined with red maples, a created lake and bridge announce arrival with a large crushed rock entry court at the house arrival point. The court is framed by evergreen hedges of varying heights, a circle of red maple with a bosque of Amelanchier creating a veil to the Guest wing. The design also includes a secret hedge garden, Black slate stone walls, a sequence of terraces and extensive planting throughout the property. The owners have an extensive art/outddor sculpture collection which is situated purposefully within the landscape.
